Blog #3 Relationship Between Shots

I have decided to write about the final Jason Bourne movie and want to focus on the assassination attempt scene. The scene starts off quick paced as Jason Bourne charges at a door. They used a tracking shot to follow him into the main room. Matched action was used in my opinion as he walks through the door. Following that the camera focuses on his point of view, which is the main speaker. There is a shot of a shooter in a dark room with a POV of the speaker then a reaction shot of Bourne as he notices a glare coming from the vent. Once the shot is taken the camera focuses on the briefly on the main speaker who was shot and a reaction of the crowd and security guards taking action. Afterwards there is a jumpcut to a dark room where the shooter begins to run. The scene cuts back and forth from the madness of people exiting the room in masses and medium shots of Jason finding and exit. I think that the cuts were made according to continuity because the flow is very fast paced, but smooth keeping the audience in the movie world and switching from point of views so that we may understand what’s occurring as it’s occurring. The shots are establishing a scene to where the main character is hunting the protagonist so they clear out the space to make that scene more climactic. Fast paced editing fits best with action and horror. Link to movie scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvtb9A9ai9Q
